EvolGarlic's Stationery Turmoil is back! Sort of, because this is not a review or anything, just a special report. The product I was supposed to review hasn't been used at all, just a tiny bit, barely used, to be exact.
But the reason why Stationery Turmoil made its presence known in the new year of 2026? Well, I've been doing Bujo for almost 2 years now.
From the first time I ever started using the Bujo technique in August of last year, with one notebook from 7-11, one black pen, and the task of jotting down whatever I have in mind, it was an expression, a place where an idea was expressed, and I spent most of it fighting with my mind, it was the tradition for almost every evening to jot down, sit down and thinking about what my day is.
Hi there, EvolGarlic here, welcome to the first and official episode of EvolGarlic's Stationery Turmoil, where Stationery gets a use, and I tell what's what, and this first episode is not even a proper review! Because it is a special report of: My Very Own Bujo Book, because it's been like 1-2 years since I started doing this, with one journal done last year, and this year's journal still has tons of blank pages left, let's recap what I wrote and the journey to, last year and this year, because this journal was across the time with me.
[How did it meet the Bujo?]
In 2024, I was thinking about reading a book, because at that time I was 24 years old, having come this far without any book reading experience (except for the high school years, where I spent the midday in the Library to run away from the turmoil) I came up with a task for 2024 that basically said: Read a book.
And that book is "The Bullet Journal Method" by Ryder Carroll, which is lying around my younger brother's boxes of things he moved out from college.
After previewing and reading it for the first time, I was ready to start my own Bujo adventure, and hopefully, make myself a brand new person from the ruts I was in.
What ended up happening is an emotional understanding and venting, mostly to deal with my past emotions that still linger (which is not lingering now), and recording of other things like books, ideas, fun facts that might come in handy, and other gibberish handwriting that came out from my mind.
By adapting what I was reading in that book to fit my life and such, I was into bujo journaling, and it became a part of my days, where I spent the evening jotting down things.
In 31st December 2024, the first bujo of mine was finished, and then the next day, I bought the second notebook to continue the ritual.
[What's Now?]
On January 1st of 2025, I brought a brand new blank journal from MR.DIY at the price of 83 baht, and this improved journal called "EvolGarlic's Super Journal 2025" is an upgrade to the old one.
Since the first day of 2025, I've spent the evening and nighttime journaling what's on my mind, any idea, and so on. It is not like any other Bujo you see or do, because I only use the daily log and the rapid logging technique that was taught in the book.
Here's what I log in my journal, the second one to be exact :
[Jot a wishlist of books I wanted to buy]
After being addicted to books, which I found to be a hard task, I "barely read" my collection of pickled books, and just added more books I saw on the online feed.
[Jot down the interesting point of the book I read]
Oh, speaking of "Barely Read" when I was reading some of it in my collection, i do jotted down some interesting ideas that are in the books, for example, the interesting chunk of psychology of Alfred Adler's Trauma does not exist in the book I read (you know the book) i'll jot it down in the rapid logging style.
Effectiveness? That's questionable for me, because sometimes I can remember the thing, but most of the time I was blank like a duck with no thoughts.
[Spending most of the chunk of the journal fighting my own mind]
IT was like a boxing match between me and my mind, who has a punch called "Imagine things up to overthinking" and that's not a good matchup.
My mental state went overthinking the past issues that I had not found a solution to yet. I won't go into the details on what it was, but I can say that it was my perspective on it, which has slowly changed over time.
In the first journal, the match took 111 days to finish, after that, the rematch took place for over 160 days.
And that 160 days spent on boxing, my overthinking boxer, is in the chunk of my second journal.
[Mood record]
Not only do I fight that boxer for nearly 160 days, but I also use the journal to log my emotions for the day when my emotions have something interesting, and needed to log it to the journal.
After fighting the lingering pasts that I created myself by my perspective on it, the mood logging also records my other feelings, like that time when my creative juice is running low, anxiety hits the brain, and even the Sadness.
[Money Logging]
My bujo is not just for recording feelings, books to buy, ideas, and interesting things. I used my bujo to track the money in my piggy bank to track down the money I save, and I even created a way to manage the money once I deposit it into the account.
[For those who want to start the journey to the Bujo]
Here's the recommendation if you ever wanted to start a bujo journal: I recommend you acquire Ryder Carroll's book, read it a bunch of times, and get used to the backbone of it.
And I would like to recommend that you start with a pencil and a notebook, not a fancy one with a chunk of paper, just a simple one.
Also, don't worry about your own handwriting style, it's your journal afterall, even mine has a flavour of my own handwriting: messy but look artsy, and i also would recommend that you do the analog ways, not the digital ways, because the distraction, and the analog one can spark your thinking, which are one of the parts of bujo.
There it is, all the things that are currently happening in my bujo journey. It's fun to sit down and think and jot them down on paper.
See you next time on the EST (EvolGarlic's Stationery Turmoil) it might be a proper review of stationery things, but until then, happy 2026, happy journaling, keep your Stationery love intact!
See you in the next episode, if you see the blueish cover, it's EST.
